According to BULKHEAD's announcement, Season 2 of WARDOGS is set to launch on October 15, 2026. BULKHEAD's first video outlined the direction of the update, and the nearly hour-long press conference that followed revealed details that completely change the initial picture of the season.
It's no longer just four new weapons and rainy weather that are confirmed. The game will also get the T-72, Flakpanzer Gepard, two versions of the Wolf-110, the Molotov, three fortifications and an experimental wager vendor. At the same time, the developers are changing armor protection, weapon balance, the rules for switching teams and support for the losing side.
Important: this is a preliminary overview, not the final patch notes. The contents of the update have been confirmed by the developers, but individual numbers and parameters may still change before release. BULKHEAD promises to publish the full patch notes with every balance change early in the week before launch.
In short: what's confirmed for Season 2#
- a wipe of money, levels and seasonal progression;
- four new weapons: TCX Spear, M14, PP-19 Bizon and Evo-3 Ultra;
- the Molotov incendiary weapon;
- four vehicles: Wolf-110, Wolf-110 Assault, T-72 and Flakpanzer Gepard;
- three new fortifications;
- a rain weather preset;
- an experimental Wager Vendor for betting on completing combat objectives;
- reworks of helmets, suppression, recoil and some explosive weapons;
- additional measures to even out the teams;
- improvements to squads, vehicles, controllers, performance and server stability.
The wipe and keeping value through Gold Bars#
At the start of Season 2, money, levels and seasonal progression will be reset. That said, the developers don't want to completely erase the results of the previous season: accumulated funds can be exchanged for Gold Bars, which survive the wipe. Cosmetics and any Gold Bars a player already owns are kept as well.
The rate shown in the video shouldn't be considered final. The interface demonstrates the principle of the exchange, while the exact ratio of money to bars may change before launch.
Four weapons with different roles#
The developers aren't just expanding the arsenal — each new weapon is meant to fill its own niche.
TCX Spear#
A modern, powerful assault rifle. According to BULKHEAD's description, it's an option for players who want high damage and reliable performance at medium range. Final recoil and cost will be the key factors: without them, it's impossible to say yet whether the Spear will push existing rifles out of the meta.
M14#
A new DMR for Recon. The M14 will widen the choice between a classic sniper rifle and automatic weapons. This matters especially on maps where long sightlines alternate with fast assaults on fortifications.
PP-19 Bizon#
A submachine gun with a large magazine. Its main practical value is sustained fire indoors and at close range, where frequent reloads are usually what gets you killed.
Evo-3 Ultra#
A 100-round light machine gun that the developers themselves describe as having the handling of an assault rifle. If its mobility stays high, the Evo-3 Ultra could become one of the most versatile weapons of the season.
Besides weapons, new attachments are coming. A dedicated 3.5x PU scope has been announced for the Mosin. Other optics won't be mountable on the rifle: the developers want to preserve its recognizable character while laying the technical groundwork for the future Gunsmith.
The Molotov is officially confirmed#
After the first teaser, the fire inside a building looked like a possible hint. Now there's no doubt: the Molotov is part of Season 2.
Its main purpose is smoking enemies out of buildings and temporarily blocking passages. The incendiary mixture also damages armored vehicles, but only slightly: it's a tool for area control, not a cheap substitute for anti-tank weapons.
For now, fire won't spread dynamically across grass, trees and buildings. So don't expect a full-blown fire simulation in the second season.
The T-72, Gepard and two versions of the Wolf-110#
The vehicle pool grows by four entries at once.
The Wolf-110 is a fast light vehicle for moving troops. The Wolf-110 Assault gets a turret-mounted M2 Browning, turning it into a more dangerous but still vulnerable support platform.
The T-72 will be cheaper and more economical than the Leopard, but pays for it with lower speed. That difference matters more than a simple model swap: commanders get a choice between mobility and more affordable heavy support.
The Flakpanzer Gepard becomes a dedicated answer to aircraft. The vehicle was found in early versions of the game, so the community has been waiting for its return for a long time. Now it's neither a leak nor a guess: the Gepard is officially confirmed for the second season.

Rain affects more than just visuals#
Weather is selected as a separate preset for the whole match. There won't be a dynamic shift from sunshine to downpour within a single game.
Rain is supposed to change combat in several ways at once:
- practical visibility range is reduced;
- submachine guns and close-quarters combat become more useful;
- thunderclaps temporarily mask footsteps;
- a destroyed roof no longer protects a room from water and outside sound.
This is a good example of a systemic change. Rain doesn't add a new mode, but it changes how you read the space: distant targets are harder to see, it's harder to rely on hearing, and assaulting a building becomes less predictable.
Snow and dynamic weather are being discussed as possible directions, but they are not currently announced as Season 2 features.
Wager Vendor: you'll be able to bet money on your own performance#
The season's most unusual mechanic is the Wager Vendor. A player picks one or more objectives, sets an allowed number of deaths and places a cash bet. The harder the combination of conditions, the higher the potential payout.
For example, you could take an objective for a certain number of kills, cap your deaths and add one more condition. Complete everything and you get a boosted reward. Fail and you lose your stake. A wager tracker will appear above the minimap, showing the amount and your progress on the conditions.
Participation is entirely voluntary. The developers are calling the system experimental up front and reserve the right to disable it mid-season if players find a serious exploit. That's an important caveat for the economy: the Wager Vendor could become an interesting money sink, but if the math is off, it could instead accelerate inflation.
New fortifications and squad quality of life#
Season 2 will add three fortifications:
- a machine-gun nest with an M2 Browning;
- a large metal canopy;
- a wooden step.
The set looks more modest than the new vehicles, but it can noticeably change bases. The machine-gun nest provides a ready-made firing position, the canopy helps set up a sheltered work area, and the step expands vertical building options.
Squads will get intent tags: building, FOB assault, helping newcomers and other specializations. Free-form squad names are scrapped for now — instead, the developers are going with a controlled set of clear tags.
Why Lonestar is getting temporary help#
The developers acknowledge the "blue team" problem. In their assessment, the outcome is shaped simultaneously by starting positions, uniform visibility, the influx of newcomers and an entrenched expectation that Lonestar will lose.
In the second season:
- starting positions on Bakurani will be moved;
- the Lonestar uniform will become less visible;
- the team will temporarily receive extra money and XP;
- a side trailing by at least 40 points will get a 20% discount at vendors.
The Lonestar bonus is announced only as a Season 2 experiment. The discount for the losing side is a more universal system meant to keep matches from turning into a one-sided stomp too early.
Helmets, suppression and the MMGL#
Gear balance is changing too.
The IR Rangefinder is coming back, but it will consume batteries. The Super Heavy Helmet will get a restricted field of view, muffled sound and fogging while sprinting. The Heavy and Super Heavy Helmet will offer better protection against suppression.
The developers are also adjusting damage, recoil and suppression across weapon classes. The goal is to make their character more distinct, so that choosing between an SMG, assault rifle, DMR and machine gun depends on more than the current damage numbers.
The MMGL will get increased sway and longer grenade flight time, while the outer part of the blast radius will be reduced. This should make quick, imprecise area spam less effective.
Switching teams will get harder#
Once a match has started, moving to the other side will be restricted. A player who does switch teams will temporarily lose access to the map and starting vehicles and won't be able to switch back immediately.
The change targets scouting enemy positions, jumping to the winning side and vehicle abuse. Together with the bonuses for the trailing side, it shows BULKHEAD's overall approach: the developers want to influence not just weapon balance, but also player behavior within a match.
Balance through variety, not symmetry#
In Road to Season 02, BULKHEAD explains its balancing principle: powerful tools are acceptable as long as no single strategy turns most matches into a rerun of the same scenario. So the goal of the changes is to preserve the sandbox's variety, not to make every situation identical.
The stated directions for Season 2 include toning down mortar spam and the drill meta: using these strategies effectively should require more resources and team coordination. For logistics, reward streaks for consecutive deliveries are promised instead of profitable farming by dumping vehicles.
The developers also promise more to do on low-population servers. This is a direction of change, not a detailed list of new activities.
Editorial assessment: this approach makes sense for a chaotic sandbox, but on its own it doesn't close the gap between a newcomer and a veteran. The team ties a full progression overhaul to later stages of Early Access, closer to version 1.0.
What won't be in Season 2#
Several major systems remain part of the long-term plan:
Skills#
Skills are meant to develop your chosen specialization and persist across seasonal wipes. BULKHEAD is considering taking into account the XP players have already earned in past seasons and later converting it into skill points. Skills won't arrive in the second season.
Intel#
In the future, Intel is supposed to replace XP as the main resource for unlocking weapons, gear and vehicles. The goal is to make the system more predictable in order to control the pace of seasonal progression. There's no release date.
Gunsmith#
The PU scope for the Mosin is a preparatory step, but the full Gunsmith will arrive in one of the following updates. The exact set of attachments and the unlock rules haven't been announced yet.
Also not confirmed for Season 2: dynamic weather, snow, a full command hierarchy and queuing into a match as a pre-made group of friends.
How long will Season 2 last#
The developers name a target of about six weeks, but don't commit to it as a hard deadline. The length may change depending on balance, feedback and the readiness of the next update.
So you can't yet work out an exact Season 3 date simply by adding six weeks to October 15.
What players are saying#
We went through the comments under the Road to Season 02 video. Here's what players are talking about most. These are opinions of the community, not official BULKHEAD plans.
The Lonestar bonus could flip the imbalance#
Some players worry that extra money and XP will simply lure veteran fighters to the blue team, and the imbalance will just switch sides. Instead of helping one faction, they suggest rewarding random team selection, shuffling spawn positions, or giving a bonus to whoever is actually falling behind. Specific numbers come up too, like +15% rewards for picking a random team, but these are player wishes, not Season 2 settings.
You have to unlock the counter first#
A good question about balancing through variety: how is a new player supposed to stop a strong tactic if the anti-tank or anti-air weapon they need is still locked behind progression? Sandbox variety looks very different at the start of a season than at its end.
The wipe excites some and frustrates others#
Some can't wait for the first days of the season, when nobody has heavy vehicles or expensive weapons yet. Others complain that after dozens of hours they still didn't unlock the gear they wanted before the reset. Some suggest a prestige system that would let you keep one unlock.
Players like the openness, but the economy raises questions#
Many thank the developers for talking straight without promising to fix everything at once. Gold Bars get more heated discussion: players argue about sharp swings in the exchange rate and how clear the exchange rules really are.
What else players are asking for#
Saved loadouts, Linux/Proton support, optimization, a co-op firing range, and better vehicle controls. There are also complaints about cheaters. None of this has been promised for Season 2 yet.
Easter egg at 10:29#
In the Lonestar scene, viewers spotted the nickname ManticoreWasFull in the kill feed. It looks like a joke about team selection: a fun detail in the video, not a new mechanic.
What Season 2 changes in practice#
The second season looks bigger than it seemed after the short teaser. Its main theme isn't the amount of content itself, but broader choice:
- the Spear, M14, Bizon and Evo-3 Ultra cover different ranges and shooting styles;
- the T-72 offers more affordable heavy armor;
- the Gepard creates a ground-based threat to aircraft;
- the Wolf-110 speeds up small groups;
- the Molotov and new fortifications change the fight for buildings and bases;
- rain affects visibility, sound and destroyed buildings;
- wagers add risk to the seasonal economy;
- help for the losing side should reduce the number of hopeless matches.
The main question now isn't whether there's enough new content, but how well it will all be balanced at once. It's especially worth watching the Wager Vendor economy, the T-72's cost, the Gepard's effectiveness against helicopters and whether the Evo-3 Ultra turns out to be too versatile.
WardogsXP verdict: Season 2 is the first serious test of BULKHEAD's ability to grow WARDOGS into a long-lived game. The update already looks substantial, but a final verdict will only be possible after the patch notes are published and the first matches are played on October 15.
